Everything feels heavy

Week 10 with Baby Yanez. Here’s what I’m learning:

I’ve been easing back into working out and everything feels heavy.

I back-squatted this week using the empty barbell for my working sets. Meanwhile, 6 years ago, I back squatted 250#.

I’m also sore … everywhere.

And I’m experiencing some pelvic floor instability to add to it.

My word for 2023 is FLEXIBILITY if you remember, so why is this all perfect as it is? Because I’m given the opportunity to adapt.

My pelvic floor is unstable after birthing a baby? Great. I’ll focus on strengthening it so i don’t run into structural issues with a 225# bar on my back in a few months.

What does this have to do with you?

I often have conversations with clients about how they can’t catch a break in their consistency in fitness or nutrition.

How they keep getting injured, or they can’t get more than 4-5 days consistently in the gym before getting “derailed”.

How they can’t stay on track during the weekends, no matter how hard they try.

Does this sound familiar?

So what can you do about it?

This comes down to the expectations we have for the situations we’re in.

If you expect it to be easy or effortless, you’re guaranteed to run into problems.

If you expect to be motivated or excited about it all the time, you’re guaranteed to run into problems.

When the expectation doesn’t meet reality, that’s when we are more likely to get discouraged or worse, give up.

Where can you shift your expectations to make hitting your goals a little simpler?
